Curriculum
Mount Burr Primary School offers a diverse curriculum in a brain compatible learning environment which is supported by a committed and caring staff. Students learn in a collaborative climate which
- Caters for different learning styles (the school is a member of a vibrant Multiple Intelligence cluster in the district)
- Allows opportunities for peer tutoring
- Students particpate in negotiated curriculum and every student R-7 belongs to a community group (e.g. recycling, environment, music/drama) Groups meet each fortnight to contribute to the school community.
- Information and Communication Technology is an important learning tool across all curriculum areas with computers available in classrooms and the computer/resource centre with these computers being networked and having access to the internet. Students have access to the digital camera, video camera and scanner to support their learning.
- The Bounce Back Resiliency Program has been introduced across the school, to enhance the well-bing of the students.
- Having the Child Parent Centre on site allows for a weekly transition program with the R/1 Class as well as the opportunity for CPC children to participate in school assemblies and special events.
- Transition Program for Year 7 students is in place with the local High School.
Extra Curricular
Students are encouraged to participate in learning opportunities outside the school with several attending choir at a neighbouring school and many students participate in sports such as SAPSASA tennis, athletics and football.
